  • 1792, the French Revolution

  • 1792, Beethoven moved to Vienna in order to study with Haydn, financed by the Prince Elector of Cologne.

  • Beethoven's lessons with haydn did not go well, because Haydn was a Court composer of the old school--the antithesis of Beethoven.

  • When Beethoven performed his first three trios, Haydn liked least the one that Beethoven liked best, making the young composer suspect his teacher of jealousy.

  • When an average musicain was performing, Beethoven often talked aloud or walked about the room or flipped the pages of his own score loudly enough for all to hear.

  • Beethoven did not like any person or thing to bother or even interupped his performence.
